Country Strong

Country strong is personally my favorite movie. It's about a rising country-music songwriter(Garrett Hedlund) who works with a fallen star(Gwyneth Paltrow) to work their way to fame, causing romantic complications along the way.
This 2010 drama brings inspiration to anyone who wants to make their way into the big time to leave their small city lives behind. Country Strong also gives a vibe of, "it doesn't matter where you've been as long as you come back strong."
Country Strong has made me think about where I want my music career to take me. I've had a chance to write lyrics for one small music producer for free but shot him down. I decided I'd rather not take the chance, but practice and work on my voice even more. In the beginning of my freshman year in high school I decided to try concert choir. During that semester, the music director found I have a strong voice and asked me to think about joining select choir the next semester.
Eventually I caved in and decided to try out. Select choir helped me collaborate pitches with reading music and soulfege. It also made me realize singing isn't just about finding the right pitches to match the piano, but reading the music and understanding which notes are which.
Getting started in the music industry is a hard thing to do. But I'm a go-getter. Being famous is one thing, but being able to sing is a talent not many people really have, let alone a passion. I can honestly say singing is my passion. It relieves my pain when im depressed or down, let's just say I open my heart through music. I speak through music.
Making my passion a career would be a dream to me. I started to learn how to play the guitar when I was fourteen, but dropped it after one year and forgot everything. I'm not very great with writing lyrics, but practice makes perfect right? I look at lyrics as poetry. Poetry that you can sing. If your talented you can get far in life...
Country Strong reminded me anything is possible if you just believe...

Kenji's First

Basically, my new blog, Life As Kenji, is a blog all about me and crazy things that I go through in every day life. It includes my family, my boyfriend, my crazy friends, things im totally in love with, things im interested in, and my dog! First off, i'll start by introducing myself. I'm Kenji, a sophomore at Lakeview High School. I'm turning sixteen in November and I'm a first time blogger. I recently decided to start blogging because I dig writing. I love reading and usually go through two books a week. I'm also advanced in my English classes. Currently, the summer is almost over and you know what that means. Dreading waking up early five days a week just to dab on cheap cover-up and sticky mascara to reveal the "pretty" side of the beast that woke up on the wrong side of the bed; looking forward to Friday night dates and sleeping in on the weekend, and day dreaming in the middle of class about that one guy you've secretly been checking out halfway across the cafeteria(wink wink). Worst of all, DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA! Shall I continue? I think you catch my drift. My blog is also about enjoying the last three or so weeks of summer and letting you fellow bloggers catch a glimpse of who I am and what I'm up to! Special thanks to my mom who also thought of this idea. Prayers for her! She has been having major back problems and It's been serious enough to be getting an MRI on Monday. Thank you!
